Dear Parents/Caregivers
I am writing as a follow-up to the email Belinda Greer, our CEO, has sent out this morning regarding 23 February 2026.
I wanted to confirm that 23 February 2026 is now a school day and children will be able to attend as normal.
It was initially listed in the Academic Calendar as a Professional Learning Day (PLD) for all staff across the Foundation, but as Belinda mentioned, we are aware of the time we have lost in school due to inclement weather closures.
The number of days we have lost in school this year is unprecedented. This will be a one-off as the Foundation and all the Schools understand the importance of our staff having Professional Learning Days.
We appreciate that some families will have planned for 23 February to be a non-school day and may be travelling that day as part of their Lunar New Year holiday. We will ensure the children are not disadvantaged regarding their official attendance that day.
Closer to the actual date, we will send details of some online activities that students can engage with if they are unable to attend school that day due to travel commitments.
The reality is that if your child cannot attend school on 23 February, the chances are that it is because they are travelling and may not have online access. As a result, our priority will be focusing on the children who are in school that day in terms of planning and preparation.
In summary, 23 February 2026 is now a regular school day, and children will attend school as normal.
This means our first day of school after the Lunar New Year is now 23 February 2026, and not 24 February, as per our academic calendar.
I have attached an updated version of our Academic Calendar to reflect the change.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions regarding the above.
Warm regards
Bill

To Parents & Caregivers,
In response to the growing body of knowledge around the science of reading, since the past school year, Years 1-3 have adopted a research-based structured phonics program named UFLI. This program will continue this year, with some of our Year 4 students also being part of it.
To best support your child’s journey of learning how to read, you may already notice some changes have been made in the home reading program compared to the previous year.
First, your child will be bringing home two decodable passages per week that will reinforce the specific phonics pattern they have learned in class. Please support your child by listening to them read the passage and complete a picture that represents the passage. *Please note that this portion of the home learning will not begin until mid October for Year 1 children.
Second, some of you may also be wondering what has happened to the levelled coloured readers from the previous year. As we transition our reading program to a more phonics-based approach, the coloured readers will be used as a supplemental reading material where the children have the choice to choose from a range of colour bands.
Please support your child by sharing this reading together - sometimes your child might have chosen an “easier” book where they can read it to you, and other times your child might have chosen a reader that is slightly more challenging for them to read independently, and in that case, it is completely helpful for an adult to read with/ to them. This will support the child’s comprehension skills and their enjoyment of reading over time.
In addition, your child’s teacher may occasionally send home an additional decodable reader depending on the reading needs of the child. In that case, your child’s teacher will communicate with you, and your child will be encouraged to read that decodable reader to an adult at home as a way to further practice phonics skills they are working on.
What comes home? |
How often? |
What to do with it? |

Dear Year 2 Parents,
We are writing to inform you that we have another confirmed case of head lice in Year 2.
We understand this may be concerning, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us manage the situation. Please take some time to check your child's hair as soon as possible. Early detection and treatment are the most effective ways to prevent further spread.
No child should return to school until they are completely free of the condition, which must be verified by the school nurse on their return.
An information sheet about head lice is attached—although you may also want to consult your GP, who can advise on the most suitable treatment for your child.
Finally, we must ask that you report any confirmed cases of head lice to the school (Tel: 2849 7873) or email me at nurse@peakschool.edu.hk. Please be assured that any information provided by parents will be treated with the strictest confidence.
Thank you for your kind attention.
Kind regards,

Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Please be informed that we have a case of Head lice in Year 2.
We politely request parents check their children’s hair carefully to ensure there is no infestation. If you do find either lice or their eggs, please do not send your child to school until the condition has been treated. This will help us immensely in ensuring the Head lice are not allowed to spread to other students.
The Hong Kong Government’s Centre for Health Protection (CHP) strongly advise parents to seek medical advice before treating the condition – many of the most effective treatments are only available by prescription.
No child should return to school until they are completely free of the condition, which must be verified by the school nurse on their return.
An information sheet about Head lice is attached - although you may want to consult your GP can advise on the most suitable treatment for your child.
Finally, we would be very grateful if you could report any confirmed cases of Head lice to the school (Tel: 2849 7873) or email me at nurse@peakschool.edu.hk . Please be assured that any information provided by parents will be treated with the strictest confidence.
Thank you for your kind attention.
Kind regards,

Dear Parents,
The Department of Health has announced a more convenient way to enrol your child for the Student Dental Care Service and the Student Health Service. Please note that enrollment is completely voluntary.
This year, the enrollment process will be done entirely through an e-platform. This new online system is designed to make enrollment faster and easier for you, eliminating the need to fill out and return paper forms.
In previous years, parents who wished to enrol their child in the dental service had to obtain the form directly from the dental centre. This year, the enrollment for both the Student Dental Care Service and the Student Health Service will be a joint e-enrollment, where you can select the services you wish to enrol in on a single platform.
The Student Health Service, introduced by the Department of Health in the 1995/1996 school year, provides enrolled students with an annual appointment at a student health service centre. These appointments are designed to meet their developmental health needs and include:
Physical examination
Screening for health issues related to growth, nutrition, blood pressure, vision, hearing, and spinal, psychological, and behavioural health
Individual health counselling and health education
Registration begins on September 1, 2025, and the deadline for submission is September 14, 2025.
Please find the link to the e-platform and detailed instructions below. If you have any questions or need assistance with the online enrollment, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Dear Parents/Caregivers,
We hope you had a lovely weekend.
Please note that we are ensuring the children are starting the year in the correct uniform. We have noticed a small number of children coming to school in the incorrect uniform, with shoes being the biggest issue.
As per our uniform policy, children must wear black leather shoes and we have noticed about 10-15 children bringing in shoes that are not all black. Shoes need to be black with no other colours visible.
On Friday, Mr Garnett spoke to the whole school at assembly informing the children that if they come to school in the incorrect shoes, their teacher will write a uniform notice for their parents so that the parent was made aware of the issue and can address it.
As of today (Monday), we will be sending a uniform notice home with any child that is wearing the incorrect uniform. The first thing we will be focusing on is the colour of the shoes when wearing the normal school uniform (non PE days). If your child is wearing anything but black shoes, they will receive a uniform notice.
I appreciate that a number of children have gone home and spoken to their parents already and that black shoes have been ordered. Please ignore the uniform notice if you have already ordered new black shoes.
Other children, however, are still saying they forgot to mention anything to their parents so if you do get a uniform notice regarding the shoes, can you please arrange black leather shoes, with no coloured markings, as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Peak School
